Life’s Warmest Moments - NM Gas Company: A Creative Case Study

Overview

In 2023, I had the opportunity to work with K2MD, who brought me on to photograph a campaign for their client, New Mexico Gas Company. The agency developed a beautifully human-centered concept titled "Life’s Warmest Moments," focusing on the small but meaningful everyday moments made possible by the company’s commitment to providing fuel to its customers.

In addition to the lifestyle campaign, we also created a series of employee environmental portraits for use across the company’s website, branding assets, and annual reports—an important part of presenting a personal, approachable image for the brand.

The Shoot

This was a one-day shoot across three different locations in Albuquerque, New Mexico, so efficiency was key. We started the day at the New Mexico Gas Company’s offices and yard to capture a variety of Lifestyle and environmental portraits of their employees. I kept the setup light and mobile: my production cart, a tethered workstation, my assistant, and a Broncolor location strobe kit—everything needed to stay fast, flexible, and ready to move.

From there, we transitioned to residential locations to photograph both indoor and outdoor lifestyle scenes. We were working alongside a video production team, trading spaces throughout the day—while they were filming in one room, my team and I were shooting in another. This collaborative, tag-team approach is always my preferred method when working with video crews. It keeps things flowing smoothly and ensures everyone gets what they need without overlap.

Final Thoughts

It was a full and fast-paced day, but one that yielded some really rewarding results. The talent, gear, and logistics all came together seamlessly—and most importantly, both the client and the agency were thrilled with the final images.
