Commercial Photography Campaign for Cerveza Indio | Beer Advertising & Brand Storytelling
Overview
In March 2025, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a high-level commercial photography campaign for Cerveza Indio. The client and creative agency needed a suite of still imagery to complement their video production, with a clear objective:
Showcase Cerveza Indio as the hero—seamlessly integrated into an artist’s studio, surrounded by the energy of craftsmanship, creativity, and cultural expression.

The story
The campaign centered around immersing the audience in the raw creativity of an artist’s studio. The bottle wasn’t just a product on display; it was woven into the environment, becoming part of the creative process itself.
To tell this story authentically, the campaign featured New Mexico-based artist, Brandon Maldonado. His bold, highly detailed work—rooted in cultural and traditional themes—captures the viewer’s attention immediately, holding it with layers of symbolism and immense detail. Positioning Indio in this environment created a natural bridge between the beer’s identity and the world of artistry and cultural pride.
A bespoke Indio painting was created by Brandon to be featured in the commercial and in the still imagery.
The shoot
With just one full production day budgeted for both motion and still photography, collaboration and timing were key. We shared the same set, talent, and props, which meant my workflow had to be precise and efficient, fitting seamlessly between video takes.
My primary focus was the hero image: the Cerveza Indio bottle, placed on the artist’s worktable, surrounded by tools, brushes, paints, and textures of the artistic process. This setting created an authentic visual narrative, emphasizing craft and originality.
In addition to the hero shot, the client required:
The Artist’s Portrait – A compelling, editorial-style image of Brandon Maldonado in his creative space, highlighting both his personality and his connection to his work.
Painting Photography – A detailed capture of one of his pieces, showcasing the intricacy, colors, and expression that make his art so powerful.
Final Thoughts
This project was an exciting example of how commercial photography can go beyond simply showing a product. By embedding Cerveza Indio in the heart of an artist’s world, we created imagery that feels authentic, culturally rich, and visually engaging.
The result is more than product photography—it’s a campaign that connects brand identity, artistry, and cultural storytelling.
