A Personal Project
One of the things I love most about photography is telling stories. While commercial work fills most of my calendar, I've always believed that the most meaningful projects are often the ones we create simply because we're curious.
I'm excited to announce a new long-term personal photography project focused on the incredible artists, craftsmen, and makers who call New Mexico home.
Whether you're a furniture maker, ceramic artist, painter, blacksmith, printmaker, jeweler, woodworker, sculptor, textile artist, leatherworker, luthier, or someone working in a craft all your own, I'd love to hear your story.
Rather than traditional portraits, these sessions will focus on you in your environment—building, shaping, welding, carving, painting, sewing, printing, or creating. I want to capture the relationship between maker and space, documenting not just what you make, but where and how it comes to life.
The workshop, studio, garage, warehouse, barn, storefront, or backyard shed often tells as much of the story as the finished work itself.
I'm Looking for Beautiful Workspaces
One of the most important parts of this project is the environment.
I'm searching for spaces that feel personal and lived-in—places with character, history, tools, materials, unfinished projects, and evidence of the creative process. Your workspace doesn't need to be spotless or professionally designed. In fact, the most authentic spaces are often the most interesting.
To be considered, you'll need to have your own dedicated studio or workspace where you create your work.
Why I'm Doing This
New Mexico has one of the richest creative communities anywhere in the country.
Beyond the galleries and exhibitions are thousands of artists and makers quietly dedicating themselves to their craft every day. Their workshops are filled with decades of experience, handmade tools, experiments, failures, successes, and stories that deserve to be documented.
My hope is to create a growing collection of environmental portraits that celebrate not only the people behind the work but also the spaces that inspire it.
This project isn't about polished marketing images or commercial photography. It's about authenticity—capturing people doing what they love in the places where that passion comes to life.
Cost
This is a personal project and there is no fee to apply or participate.
The sessions are offered free of charge because this is a body of work I'm creating in my own time.
If you'd like to contribute toward the project, you're welcome to do so on a pay-what-makes-you-happy basis. There is absolutely no expectation or obligation to contribute—your participation is what matters most.

I'll be reviewing submissions and selecting participants based on the uniqueness of their work, the story behind it, and the visual character of their workspace.
Because this is an ongoing personal project, I won't be able to photograph everyone who applies, but I genuinely appreciate every submission.
